Abstract
Tribal accommodation and estate areas' supposable territorial order reconstructed by Balint Homan shows that the settlement and the arrangement carried a territorial rationality, adapted to geographic conditions. The "concept of Hungary" gradually evolved and the rulers began to call themselves "King of Hungary". In the Hungarian historical and territorial thinking the question of both .Motherland" and ,,Great Hungary" (Magna Hungaria) has appeared historically in several ways. Within the geography, the interpretation of the territorial relationship between the natural geographic big territory (Pannon Basin, Hungarian Basin, Central Danube Basin, Carpathian Basin, etc.) and the Hungarian state was an essential issue. This interaction became particularly important in geographic deterministic approaches.
