Abstract
It is widely known that web 2.0 and ICT technologies have a great impact on the world economy and one of these manifestations is the sharing economy. The sharing economy essentially means that users via a P2P based online platform share their unused capacities on an on-demand basis. In this milieu, large sharing economy firms emerged such as Airbnb or Uber, which offer solutions for
changing consumer habits taking advantage of the opportunities offered by IT. The aim of this paper is to present a method to map the spatiality of Airbnb – a sharing economy pioneer offering short term accommodation – using a 3-band raster representation technique. Our study was based on quantitative research methods and we performed internet data query and applied GIS-based mapping methods. Our results present the hotspots of Airbnb accommodations within the city and the effects of distance and attractiveness on Airbnb prices.
